Listed Air Cargo Agent (LAME)

Authorised Premises for Export Goods (LAME).

As its name suggests, the acronym LAME (Locales Autorizados para las Mercancías de Exportación) refers to a special enclosure recognised by the Customs Authorities for the storage and processing of national goods destined for non-EU countries.

It is a facility under the control of the local customs authorities for the reception, storage and handling of goods declared for export to third countries.

Its purpose is to provide a secure and regulated storage space where goods can be prepared and handled for subsequent international transport.

This type of premises helps to facilitate export operations in two ways: on the one hand, the goods deposited inside are subject to customs surveillance at all times and, on the other hand, it allows export operations to be carried out directly from the warehouse itself without the need to present them at a customs centre.

Both particularities offer a great logistical advantage since, in practice, the LAME functions as an extension of the customs facilities.

Carga aérea (LAME)

Given that the purpose of the LAME is to simplify and speed up export operations, the Customs Authority allows a series of actions to be carried out inside it. This is because the deposited goods remain under Customs control at all times.

In order to fulfil this function, the LAME has a series of particular characteristics that define its usefulness for export operations:

They are privately owned warehouses.
Authorisation is granted exclusively for goods to be exported to territories outside the EU customs area.
It allows export clearances to be processed directly from the warehouse itself without transferring the goods to any official customs area.
Full load clearances can be processed or groupage operations of different goods from different suppliers can be carried out.
It allows the partial reception of goods pending clearance or awaiting the assignment of a customs destination.
It allows the temporary storage of goods that do not yet have a final customs destination.
Physical examinations of goods by Customs are carried out in the LAME itself without the need to move the consignments to another official site for examination.

The LAME warehouse reduces costs and shipping times for export goods.

  • Improved dispatch times: By enabling the processing of export files directly from the warehouse itself, goods clearance and dispatch times are speeded up.
  • Cost reduction: Handling and transport costs are minimised by eliminating the need to present the goods at customs premises for export authorisation.
  • Reduced incidents: The ability to detect and rectify any incidents within the warehouse prior to the shipment of goods prevents the stoppage of a shipment at the port or airport of departure.
  • Elimination of intermediaries: By centralising handling and dispatch operations in a single place, the intermediaries involved in the export process are reduced.
  • Favours triangular sales: The possibility of consolidating loads facilitates operations between three or more economic actors, for example, operations with goods from two or more manufacturers, with an intermediary and a final customer.
